Newest Xbox Live Dashboard Video Leaked.

Set to release this fall, Xbox's newest dashboard update has made it's way to Youtube.

The New layout features  " Tiles " Much Windows Phone 7. It seems much more fluent and hopefully will fix the lag that is present with the current dashboard.

Although the video is in French, the new dashboard looks much nicer  that the current one, and will be fully controllable with Kinect.
It also features  Bing, voice control, and Live Streaming Television.

The update is set to release officially later this fall.

Battlefield 3 on PS3 is the better game on Consoles.

The team at Dice push the limits of the PS3 while still staying within their budget.

When Developing games, game companies will normally just port the assets to the other consoles. In this case with the Xbox is the weaker console therefore game companies develop for Xbox 360 and port to the PS3. Sometimes those ports will look worst on the PS3 than the Xbox because companies don't want to spend the extra cash on development but when a company does everything right the PS3 version can far succeed the 360.

That is the case with the latest Battlefield 3. While they may not match the power of a PC the developers are definitely doing everything they can in order  maximize the users experience.

In a recent interview with PSB Dice producer Patrick Liu talks about the game on the PS3 and how they are pushing the console to its limits.

PSB:That level you showed on the PS3 was huge, but it was also highly detailed — I saw mirrored floors, reflective surfaces, tons of special effects and physics with a smooth frame rate. Are you confident that PS3 players are going to get a great experience?
Patrick Liu: Oh yeah. We’re very confident – we’re pushing the hardware big-time. Of course, we have a performance budget that we have to hit. Everything counts into that: the scale costs performance, destruction, animation, special effects…those are all the things we cram in there. I feel really good about where we ended up with on the PS3.
On top of pushing the console, it has also been confirmed that the first Battlefield DLC will be a PS3 times exclusive for one week. It appears that the PS3 is going to be the place to be when Battlefield 3 is released.

Mass Effect 3 Will / Will Not Have Multiplayer

Multiplayer or No Multiplayer ? That's the question.
Blog Written by : Joe The Gamer ; Blog

The Latest update in the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Saga, a pamphlet from the South African Games retailer, BT Games, advertises the ME3 Collectors Edition, which includes a " Online Multiplayer Pass "

Now before jumping to any conclusions, this could be another way of saying it will include a code for the Cerberus Network, like ME2 had, though, why not just say " Cerberus Network Code " ? Although we cannot confirm either way, it will interesting to see what exactly this code will be used for.
Remember, ME3 was delayed from Holiday Season, 2011 Until Q1 of 2012. BioWare claimed that it needed longer to work on ME3, because it wanted it to be the best in the series, begging the question, Is BioWare working on making the Campaign better, or making a Multiplayer Mode Better ?

We may not be sure for a while, but one thing we do know, is that on March 6th 2012, we will be able to play the newest game, in one of the best Series of all time, Mass Effect 3.

Battlefield 3 Beta Review

The Battlefield 3 Beta Opened today for owners of Medal Of Honor, Limited Edition, and i was one of the happy owners.

The first thing i noticed when i started playing, was the sounds. Guns firing, Grenades exploding, footsteps running, and that's just the start of it. It all sounds so, fresh, crisp, and real. Although i haven't heard a grenade explode in real life, i imagine it sounds more like it does in BFBC3 than in previous games.

Map size was an issue for me in BF2, and so far, BF3 seems no different. What i mean is, you don't feel in the game while your playing. In MW2, for example, you always feel like your in the game, just a few seconds away from your next kill, death, kill streak, or capture. Battlefield just doesn't give me that same feeling.
It took me a good minute or two to actually find an enemy, where i then got snipped. By the end of a couple games i was starting to get to double digits in kills, but i still never got that feeling, that i could get into the zone.

The overall feel of the game didn't impress me too much. When i was running it felt choppy, and the gun animations didn't seem up to par with what i expect from a top tier FPS. You get virtually no warning that your getting shot at, until your dead, which was also a problem in Medal Of Honor. As for the glitches that are seen in the beta, including falling below the map ( as seen in the pic. ), the Dice Community manager had this to say : A lot of what you are seeing in the BETA doesn’t exist in the main game already. 1st Party submissions mean we couldn’t give a version of the latest code in the BETA but the retail game is well ahead of what you are seeing now with a lot more bug fixes already in place.

This beta didn't impress me too much, but this isn't the full, polished game, so i won't read too much into it.

Toxic Venom Studios Logo

Today I unveil the logo for my studio.

It's not easy to come up with a name for a company as practically everything today has already been used. But needless to say I am happy with the name that I chose and the logo that was drawn out thanks to an artist I found on Craigslist. Anyway I've had this logo for a while and I thought that I should share it with you today and here it is.

Toxic Venom Logo v2
I think the cobra works great for this logo and while it may not be fancy like other Logo's, I think it gets the message out there.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Forza Motorsport 4 Demo Arrives October 3rd.

Xbox's best racing game drives onto Xbox Live on October 3rd.
( Photo From Joystiq )
Forza's latest trailer, available on the Xbox Dashboard, which you can view later by clicking Here to Que to download, revealed that a Demo will be released on October 3rd.

The Game launches a week later, on October 11th, and although i don't plan on picking it up on launch day, due to the extremely high amount of other games i plan on buying in the next three months, it might be worth a Used-Game but sometime down the road.

I will definitely be downloading the Demo though, just to get a taste of what Forza 4 brings to the table, and see if it can overtake Forza 3 as my favorite Racing Game of this Console Generation.

PlayStation Move $39.99 at Gamestop

The title says it all.

I was browsing the Gamestop website when I came across their banner advertising the PlayStation move selling for 50% off. I clicked on the banner and sure enough it is on sale for 50% off. Right now you can get the PlayStation Move Bundle for $39.99 which includes the motion sensing controller and the navigation add on. Or if you just want to purchase them separately, they're going for $24.99 and $14.99.

I don't know how long the sale is but if you're in the market for a PlayStation Move controller, right now would be the best time to buy one.

Crytek developing next Homefront Game.

THQ AND CRYTEK COLLABORATE TO DEVELOP NEXT HOMEFRONT TITLE

Homefront is a great FPS game that suffered a bit in the graphics department. But regardless it went on to sell millions of copies worldwide. With it's dark and futuristic plot of Korea taking over the US, it painted a future that could happen if certain powers aren't kept in check. By then end of the game it was clear that THQ wanted to leave the window open for future sequels and today we finally get a confirmation that indeed THQ is working on a sequel and it's being developed by non other than the powerhouse that is Crytek.

"Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent," said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. "Homefront's unique setting and storyline captivated gamers the world over. With Crytek's industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we're supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand."

Crytek best known for the Crysis series and their Cry Engine, is capable of achieving a visual that is unmatched and with the Homefront license I'm sure they can bring more to the table with their creative minds.

"We see Homefront as a really strong universe that has a lot of potential and that has been expertly created and marketed by THQ," said Cevat Yerli, Founder, CEO and President of Crytek. "We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It's really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creative freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us to bring the Homefront world to life in a new and innovative way."

I'm really interested in seeing what Crytek does with the license and I can't wait to see the very first in game screen shots. Crysis 2 with DirectX 11 kicks ass and with Homefront's unique story line and Cryteks visual style, it's sure is gonna be one hell of a ride when it's released.

There is a long waiting period though as the next Homefront isn't scheduled to be released until 2014 so mark your calendars. Only 3 more years to go.

Dead Island Review.

If you thought taking a vacation with your family was hell on earth, you haven't seen anything yet.

Dead Island is a first person, adventure style game with RPG elements similar to those of Borderlands and Fallout 3. As 1 of 4 playable characters, you can roam the entire Island taking out as many zombies as you please but don’t expect to be blowing up heads or snipping them from across the mountains as Dead Island focuses more on melee combat as weapons than guns. A paradise in hell, Dead Island drops players into a zombie infested paradise with nothing but the clothes on your back and a broken paddle.

When you first begin Dead Island you can pick from 1 in 4 playable characters each with their own unique ability. My first disappointment in the game is that you cannot customize any characters at all or create your own character. After selecting your character you are then thrown into Dead Island where the dead have taken over. From the get go you are given a set of tasks to complete. You are given side quests and a main quest to complete. The side quests normally involve doing favors for people such as finding a loved one, bringing specific supplies etc. There are also continuous side quests where a character will ask for water, booze or other specific things. Each quest completed gives you an XP boost. Level up and you get 1 Skill point to spend in the skills shop.
DI9

The skills shop is similar to that of Borderlands where you can select from 1 in 3 routes. I normally take the middle route as it gives my character more melee damage and such. However sometimes the game will ask for specific skills found in other skill routes such as lock picking. There are many ways to gain XP throughout the game; most of them are earned from Quests and side quests. Other forms are killing Zombies. Zombies will only give you a little bit of XP but depending on how you kill them you can gain more XP.
DI8

Your main weapon of choice is whatever you can find. The games main focus is mainly in Melee combat with everyday items such as paddles, meat cleavers, scythes, knives, machetes, etc. These items can be used for melee or thrown at zombies for long ranged combat. Each combat item has a specific number of uses so use them wisely or you can find yourself becoming a Zombie’s next meal. Combat items however can be repaired and upgraded in specific areas however these upgrades and repairs do cost money. Money can be found all over the island from raiding peoples luggage to mugging zombies yourself or can be also gained from completing missions. Guns and other firearms are rare in the game and don’t come until later on. These weapons can also be upgraded and I recommend using them only on Boss battles as they themselves will also carry fire arms.
DI7

Missions and weapons aside Dead Island is all about exploration. The island where this infestation takes place is huge and you can free roam to every corner of it. On top of that you have buildings and other places where you can enter to explore some more including the Jungles of Banoi where Zombies can appear from nowhere. Walking will eventually get boring but you can jump on a truck and hit the road and some zombies while you’re at it. You can even get several trucks and race around the Island with your friends in 4 player co-op.
DI6

Dead Island is a Multiplayer game first and a single player game second. The game allows 4 player co-op and any one can jump into your game if they are close to where you are story and mission wise. You can also set up a private network for your friends only if you don’t want some random 12 year olds to enter your game to ruin everything.
DI5

While the view in Dead Island may be beautiful the character models aren’t. Most of the animation is somewhat choppy and some characters do look like monkeys and sound awful. The only sad part is that you can’t chop them into pieces because some of them do sound annoying. While playing I did notice a few graphical corruptions throughout the game but nothing game breaking. The voice acting in the game may not win an award but the sound effects are better. The zombies growling in the distance is enough to put you on your toes and look around. Even the nearby growl is enough to put you on your feet.
DI4

There are several types of Zombies and each one of them can be dismembered. Most zombies can interrupt your attacks giving them a window of opportunity to strike you down. The Thug zombies are some of the hardest zombies to defeat as they can knock you down with just one swing. If you have any sharp weapons you can cut off his arms but the problem is that it’s very hard to distinguish the distance between him and your character. Suiciders are also another type of Zombie that you can’t get close to as they will explode on contact. The best way to take these guys out is to throw your weapons at them but this also presents another problem as you risk losing all your weapons leaving you open to zombie attacks and with your limited inventory, you have to be quick to look for and pick up other items.
DI3

You also have to look out for your stamina meter which depletes every time you do anything. From jumping to running and swinging your meter will drop. Empty it and you will find yourself in a world of trouble if you have a hoard of Zombies coming for you. There are upgrades that will slow down your stamina from depleting faster but it will cost you 3 skill points.  You can also choose the second option to run away if you want to avoid fighting zombies as they will not chase you if you are at a distance.
DI2

While Dead Island may have 4 player co-op it does not have any death match options. You also can’t select any specific missions while jumping into gameplay like Left 4 Dead. I think this is a negative because once the game is finished there is really nothing else to go back to besides more Island exploration and eventually that will get boring.
DI1

Closing Comments:
Dead Island will bring you about 10-20 hours of gameplay but most of that time will be spent exploring the island. Online Co-Op is great but you are limited to just that as Death Match was not included in the game. But despite that I will have to give this game a buy rating as you and your friends can create your own mayhem around the island and that’s really where this game’s focus is. However for single players I will give it the Rent option as there really isn’t much to do after the game is complete.

GamePlay: There are hundreds of quests to keep you busy and the skill system lets you customize your character your way. Melee only combat style does take some getting used to but you’ll manage. 7/10

Graphics: Graphics could have been better, character models need better texture and the animation could be better. 6/10

Sound: Voice acting needed better work but the sound effects are great and the ambient music will make the hairs on the back of your head stand up. 7/10

Story: Not much is explained on what happened to the island and the story that is told is dull and predictable. 6/10

LifeSpan: With hundreds of quests available this game easily clocks in between 10 – 20 hours of gameplay. 9/10

Total Score: 70/100

Mac users will share the same level of enjoyment as PC users with Deus Ex.

PC will always have the upper hand on Mac computers when it comes to gaming. PC gamers always get the latest graphics cards and faster processors which allows then to experience a new level of entertainment.

However it's not all bad news for Mac users as there are some games ported to mac. The latest game to receive a port is Deus Ex: Human Revolutions which is available on all major consoles and PC. Deus Ex is expected to come to Mac this Winter 2011/2012.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution presents the player with truly meaningful decisions in a unique and captivating game world.” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “The degree of freedom it offers is extraordinary.”

“We are delighted to partner with Feral, a leading expert in development for the Mac platform, to bring the acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Mac players, said Stephane D’Astous, general manager of Eidos-Montreal. “The game presents a powerful vision of a dystopian future, and we’re excited that gamers will now be able to experience it on the Mac.”

No price point or system requirements have been released although I'm guessing it's probably similar to the PC version since Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been optimized for ATI Graphics cards which is Apples choice to include in most Mac systems.

The game may not be ground breaking and in a way reminds me of Killswitch for the PS2 but besides Black Hawk Down there really haven't been many games that I can recall taking place in Libya. I am interested in the story of the game and can't wait to see what its all about.

KIMI NI TODOKE -FROM ME TO YOU-RELEASES WITH A BLU-RAY & DVD COMBO PACKAGE IN JANUARY 2012!

Relive the high school years with this Anime.

NIS America is bringing us another Anime in both DVD and BluRay formats. Kimi Ni Todoke -From me to you will be coming on January 2012 just 11 months before the end of the world.

Here are some of the highlights of Kimi Ni Todoke:

About kiminitodoke-From Me to You-:
Sawako Kuronumahas had a difficult time fitting in. Some say it’s her hair, others say it’s her hushed manner of speaking, while still others claim it is due to her name’s similarity to Sadako, a character from a popular Japanese horror series. On her first day of high school, Sawako meets the one boy who treats her like a normal girl—ShotaKazehaya. Through his selfless aid, Sawako slowly learns to come out of her shell and even begins to make friends for the first time in her life. However, with a new social life come social pressures. Rumors begin to circulate about her, her friends, and even the kindhearted Kazehaya. As she grows into her new identity, Sawako must learn to deal with such pressures as well as start to understand the unfamiliar feelings inside of her, especially in regards to the boy who made her new start possible.

About the Blu-ray discs:
The high-definition experience for kiminitodokeoffered by Blu-ray will serve to accentuate its vibrant colors and show the characters and beautiful scenery in the most crisp, clean way imaginable. Viewers can enjoy the DVD bonus materials on the Blu-ray discs, as well.

About the bonuses—art book and bonus tracks:
kiminitodoke-From Me to You-Volume 1 Premium Edition comes with a hardcover art book (full color, 28 pages) featuring character information and Sawako’s most cherished moments. Get inside her head and experience the story of Volume 1 through Sawako’s memories! The bonus materials includes clean opening/ending themes.

This is one Anime that I cannot wait for. The last 2 anime's released by NIS weren't really up to my expectations but I'm hoping this one is different from the 2 and falls in line with Toradora, Pandora Hearts and other great anime's released by NISA.

Battlefield 3 will ship with 2 discs on Xbox 360.

Adding more wood to the fire.

It's no secret that PC games with a decent graphics card will mop the floor of home consoles when it comes to graphics. However most developers try to keep the gap as close to the console version as possible or not try to advertise their game on PC. Alot of games on PC have great features yet they are rarely advertised on TV or anywhere else.

Since it's announcement EA has made it clear that Battlefield 3 is a PC game first and a console game second. So far all the footage shown on Battlefield 3 had been on PC and there was a gameplay trailer going around for the PS3 but nothing for the 360. EA has not hidden the fact that the console version is far less superior than the PC version running at 720P and this has not sitten well with gamers.

Now to add more salt to the wound, EA has announced that the 360 version of Battlefield 3 will come with 2 discs. One disc will house the Single Player campaign while the other will house the Multiplayer and Co-op features. Xbox 360 owners should be strangers to the disc swapping feature though in fact there have been several games that have done it. The one game that comes to mind is Halo ODST which came with a separate Multiplayer disc.

Those are the limits of the Xbox 360 and there's no way around it. However PS3 owners will only have to deal with one disc while PC owners will have to deal with no discs if they download it via EA's Origin service.

Crysis PC vs Xbox 360 Screenshots

It's like a facelift gone horrobly wrong.

Crysis is one hell of a game requiring a more than average gaming rig to run. Even today Crysis still sells for $30 and for a game that came out 4 years ago, that's not bad. There have even been times where the creator of Crysis has stated that Crysis will never run on any home console.

However all of that changed when Crytek released Crysis 2 on consoles and while I haven't played it on consoles, I can say that the PC version blew me away in the graphics department and with the DX11 update it just made things even sweeter. Now just last week EA announced that it will be releasing Crysis as a Downloadable game on Xbox Live and PSN.

Here are some side by side screenshots comparing the Xbox 360 version and the PC version.

For the most part the PC version looks way better that the Console version but then again you'd have to invest at least $1000 for your system to run Cyris and Crysis 2 at max speed. Something that no $200 console can match but if you don't care about graphics, Crysis is still a great game and if priced right it could be worth checking out.

Fighting Fantasy Talisman of Death PSN Review

So Much Reading...............*_*

Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death is a game based on the text version of Dungeons and Dragons. For those who enjoy those types of games, they will feel right at home but for the rest of us it can get confusing and if we don’t keep track of our stats all our effort will have gone to waste.

When you first start the game you will get to choose your character and what characteristics they will have. From then on it’s all about reading so if you hate reading in a game, turn back now. The game is just like dungeons and dragons in which you must read then decide what you will do next. After making your decision, you are told to turn to the instructed page of your decision. Unlike D&D though there is no cheating like turning the page to see what awaits and then going back and choosing a different path.

When entering battle you will enter one of two battle systems depending on your choice. One is a regular dice game in which the higher roller will deal 2XP damage to the losing party. The other is a memory recall game in which you must avoid the skulls or die and return to the beginning of the game.

The story is all based on your choices that you make throughout the game. Every time you play, you will choose a different path because there are so many to choose from you will forget which path takes you where or does what. The story is deep and comical at times and does require a lot of imagination just like Dungeons and Dragons. The problem is that not many players will find it pleasant to read.

Closing Comments:
Fighting Fantasy is a unique game which will appeal to a certain crowd. It’s a deep game that requires a lot of imagination and reading but for graphic whores like myself, it’s a game that I won’t be checking out anytime soon. If you are into D&D then this game is just for you.

Fate/EXTRA Limited Edition Comes Packed With Extra Goodies!

No Really that is what the game is called.

It appears that almost every Japanese PSP game release comes with extra goodies but for an extra $10 bucks, its not a bad deal. This time around the Aksys published game, Fate/Extra will come with extra goodies or should I say the limited edition which will retail for $39.99 will come with a 15 page art book and an 11 sountrack CD.

People will also have the option to purchase the regular edition for $29.99 but if the soundtrack is kick ass and knowing Aksys, all of their game tracks are kick ass then why not spend an extra $10 to purchase the limited edition. It's well worth the price.

Fate Extra front

Here is some info from the game:

Fate/EXTRA Story Elements:

Waking up in a strange  virtual world with no recollection of the past, the main character finds  themselves forced to fight for survival in a war they do not understand for a  prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one's wish granted. With only an  enigmatic “Servant” by their side, the protagonist will have to face both  friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession  of a mysterious object known as the "Holy Grail,” but also to find the  answer to the most important question of all: "Who am I?"

Fate/EXTRA Key Features:

Intuitive, Fast-paced Battle  System: Using Break, Attack, and Guard abilities in combination with powerful Special  Moves and Code Casts, players are required to plan out their attacks to  effectively counter their opponent's moves and emerge victorious from  potentially deadly encounters.

Engrossing Story: Written by the creator of  the original Fate series of PC games, Kinoko Nasu, the story of Fate/EXTRA will not only appeal to long  time fans of the Fate universe, via the inclusion of many familiar characters,  but will also appeal to RPG fans looking for a deep, non-formulaic storyline  that delves into such mature themes as loyalty, death, love, and what it means  to be human.

Extensive replay value: Multiple story paths, each  with their own unique dialog trees and character interactions that lead to  different endings.

Fate/Extra will be available on 11/1/11 on the PSP System.

Metallic Rose Nintendo DSi XL coming in a few days.

Is it even worth it?

The DSi XL offers players a 4.2' LCD screen on both the top and bottom screens. When the DSi XL launched it had a price tag of $169.99. Today it's on par with the 3DS and both cost $169.99 so is it even worth buying a DSi XL. Well if Nintendo is releasing a Metallic Rose color version then I'm sure some people think it is.

The Metallic Rose DSi XL will release on September 18.

OMG-Z PSN Mini Review

Zombies have take over the city, and its up to you to run away.

OMG-Z which I’m pretty sure stands for Oh My God – Zombies, is a Zombie shooting game that is unlike any other Zombie game out there that I know of. Instead of roaming around the city, trying to find your way out you are stranded to just one section of the level and with the limited amount of bullets you must take out as many zombies as possible.

You take the role of the last surviving cop in the entire city; possibly the last survivor. You must make your way through the city to find a chopper that will take you to safety, away from all those flesh eating zombies.

At first you are only given 3 bullets with the option to upgrade later on as you score points. You have to shoot the right zombie to cause a chain reaction that will take out other zombies as well. Some zombies spit out acid when shot, others will explode and if they have a weapon they will fire the weapon at other zombies. There will also be exploding barrels placed on certain areas of the map. The best way to score the highest score is to take out the exploding barrel when a huge amount of zombies are close to it.

The upgrades are almost a necessity. As you proceed through the game Zombies will have higher HP and will require more than one bullet to be killed. Other upgrades include adding more barrels and more zombies into the mix.

The way the game is set up, you have to go through the bad ending before you get to the good ending. As you are tallied your score, you will either go up the latter or go down. Going down is the way you want to go if you want the good ending. There is a lot of repetition to the game. Going down a different path doesn’t necessarily mean it you will get different levels. If anything they are all the same with the ending being different depending on the path you take.

Closing Comments:

OMG-Z is a fun PlayStation Mini but gets very repetitive. After finishing the main story which doesn’t last for more than 30 minutes all you have left to do is beat your own score. But for $2.99 it’s not a bad deal.
