Jikandia: The Timeless Land will be released on March 15th, 2011 for the PSP® (Playstation®Portable) system.

About Jikandia: The Timeless Land

For thousands of years, the people of Jikandia were happy and peaceful, utterly ignorant of the concept of time. Then...one day, uncountable hordes of dangerous creatures appeared, bringing chaos to Jikandia and setting the wheels of time turning once again. Plunged suddenly into this newly-temporal reality, the people of Jikandia fell into confusion, terror, and anarchy.

In the midst of the mayhem gripping the land, an ancient spirit known as Temtem, hoping to restore peace and harmony to the troubled land, somehow gained mastery over time and space. With this new-found power, Temtem attempted to summon the nine heroes of legend. Nine kids on their way to school found themselves summoned through time and space to become the champions of Jikandia. However, only Hall, who was separated from his friends while traveling through the void, appeared before Temtem. Neither of them knew what had happened to Hall’s friends, but it soon become clear that Hall had to find them, and right Jikandia’s wrongs, if he was ever to return home.

In Jikandia, you must travel through dungeons in search of your friends. You can set the time limit for each dungeon yourself! Dungeons are altered in several ways according to the time limit you set, so no adventure is the same twice! The longer you spend in one, the more likely you’ll come across rare items and treasure chests...but you’ll also face more monsters and difficult traps. Also, by meeting certain requirements, you can unlock specific events and cause legendary items to appear. Activating the “Focus” mode will make you stronger, faster, and more powerful! Obtain magic orbs to customize your hero’s skills as you wish. Up to four PSP systems can be linked to play in the Jikandia Coliseum timed stages where you can battle against your friends and dodge traps to win with the highest score!

“With a combination of old-school platforming action and a colorful cast of characters, Jikandia: The Timeless Land gives you the freedom to decide how long you want to spend in each dungeon, making the game easy to pick up and play whenever you have a moment to spare,” says Frank “Bo” deWindt II, Associate Producer at Aksys Games.

Jikandia: The Timeless Land Key Features

  • Set your own time limit
Take control of the clock and play at your own pace. You can spend as little as three minutes on a quick speed-run, or up to half an hour scouring a dungeon for rare treasure.

  • Unlock story events
Play through the game multiple times to unlock additional events. Since the layout and size of each dungeon changes depending on the time set by the player, it’s possible for the player to never have to explore the same dungeon twice.
  • 4-player Coliseum mode
Up to four players can enjoy Jikandia together using the PSP® systems ad-hoc mode. Challenge other players in a wide variety of settings to determine who will emerge from battle victorious.

Conduit 2 Weapons Trailer

What's better than blowing things up with all sorts of cool weapons? Nothing.

My Thoughts on Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Today I talk about some of the characters from Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 will release on Feb 15 and there's no doubt about it I will purchase this game the day it comes out. However it's not all peaches and cream with MvC3 as I do have some complaints about the character selection. As of this writing 2 new characters have been announced: Akuma and Taskmaster. Also note that there are a total of 34 character with 2 DLC characters bringing to total count to 36 compared to the 56 on Marvel vs Capcom 2.

My first complaint about the character selection is the choice of character Capcom chose for it's rosters. I'm not saying they're all bad but some are questionable. The characters that I think shouldn't be there are: She-Hulk, Arthur, Trish and Viewtiful Joe.She-Hulk plays is a mirror character and plays the same as Hulk. I think she could of easily been swapped out with Venom. Trish is also another questionable character because you she's not a mainstream character in the DMC series. She was missing in DMC 2,3 and only appeared in a few scenes in DMC 4 which brings me to the next questionable character Viewtiful Joe. Viewtiful Joe has not been in any other games besides Tatsunoko vs Capcom since the Gamecube/PS2 days. His play style in TvC also sucks which brings into question as to why Capcom would decide to add him to the roster.

My other complain is the availability of DLC characters. I know that it is a huge money maker for game developers but why not add them to the roster instead of forcing gamers to pay extra for the collectors edition in order to get them for free or pay a month later when they are released. Jill and Shura-Gomath are already announced and will be available as a day 1 download to gamers who purchase the collectors edition of the game which isn't bad since it's only $10 more than the regular game.

I was excited when they announced Zero as a playable character but No MegaMan X or even MegaMan but Tron Bone is on the roster.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 may be around the corner but it's still unknown what Capcom plans to do with the game. Of course there will be DLC characters but what characters are still unknown. It is possible that one day we will have a 70+ character roster. Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be available on Feb 15 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Wii on PSP

You heard me.

Sakguchi says The Last Story only possible on Wii.

Really???

In a tweeter post Hinorobu Sakaguchi said the RPG Exclusive for the Wii is only possible on the console because of the close relationship they have kept with Nintendo during the development process.

”The Last Story appearing on another platform isn’t possible because our team worked so closely with Nintendo.”

I know of other games that have worked with Nintendo and they're games still don't sell well. I think the reason behind the Wii Exclusivity is because of the cheap development costs compared to the PS3 or Xbox 360. Suda51 also worked close with Nintendo to bring No More Heroes but the game didn't do so well even though critics praised the game.

Of course RPG's always sell well in Japan as the case with Monster Hunter for the Wii so chances are this game will do better than expected but only time will tell.

Valve announces Portal 2 features.

It's a PS3/PC/Mac Crossover for the ages.

It's rare when a company announces they are doing Multiplayer crossover with a console, PC and Mac. It's even more rare if that company cursed said console a few years ago and stated they will never develop for that console.

A few years later of course that means nothing as Valve is now supporting the PS3 full steam with the ability to play against gamers who are on PC and Mac with Portal 2. On top of that you can also unlock a Steam version of Portal 2 on PC which makes this a 2 for one deal.

President and co-founder of Valve, Gabe Newell also stated that “more Steam features and functionality in DLC and future content” is in the works as the team with Sony to bring the “best console version of the product.”

It's great to see Valve finally supporting the PS3 with the lack of software as well as lack of support for The Orange Box for PS3. It's unknown why the change of heart for Valve but it seems that this doesn't matter and I am curious to see what Valve brings to the PS3 or if they have an exclusive title in the works.

Sega Announces Dreamcast Compilation.

SEGA’s most beloved Dreamcast games in a must-have collection

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (January 14, 2011) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced that a packaged compilation of classic titles from SEGA’s popular Dreamcast console will hit retail shelves for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC digital download. The Dreamcast Collection will be available on February 25, 2011, in Europe and February 22 in North America.

The Dreamcast Collection includes the fan favorites Sonic Adventure™, Crazy Taxi™, SEGA Bass Fishing™ and Space Channel 5™: Part 2.  Players will get to enjoy four very different Dreamcast experiences, from hopping behind the steering wheel of Crazy Taxi, to taking things a little slower by luring in their fish before catching them hook, line and sinker with SEGA Bass Fishing. Alternatively, take over as intergalactic news reporter Ulala in Space Channel 5: Part 2 and dance your way past the evil Rhythm Rogues, or make it all about speed in Sonic's first Dreamcast outing, Sonic Adventure!

SEGA’s Dreamcast Collection features enhanced graphics for both platforms versions, providing an even more engaging experience. In addition to this, achievements and online leader boards will be available on Xbox 360 for each game providing a competitive edge and allowing players to prove their skills!

“The Dreamcast console is still remembered as a pioneering console for online gaming,” commented Gary Knight, VP of Marketing at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe “We are delighted to be able to offer to our large community of dedicated fans a collection such as Dreamcast Collection for them to enjoy old favorites on this Xbox 360 and Windows PC.”

Dreamcast Collection will be available in North America on February 22, 2011, for Xbox 360 and Windows PC digital download.

Sega will always have a special place in gamers hearts but this collection is kind of weak. The only game worth playing here is Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi. I do wish there was multiplayer for Crazy Taxi and Sega Bass Fishing but it looks like this is all were getting but updated graphics are a nice addition for each game. We'll just have to wait and see how the compilation turns out.

Infinity Ward Talks about PS3's Security.

IW talks to gamers on the forums about Sony's latest issue with security.

Sony's latest security break is no laughing matter as Sony themselves have taken action against the hackers who hacked into the PS3 and as you may call it, it's a battle where you chose sides but not piracy vs corporation but Whether you really own that console vs Corporation as it's put by GeoHot. Now there are some arguments of whether or not you can do whatever you want with your console which is for another post but you can practically tell Sony is shitting bricks.

IW has gone up on their forums and commented on the issue and practically explains that there is nothing much they can do to fix the issue unless Sony themselves fix it.

"Sony has recently acknowledged a breach in security on the PS3 which resulted in games to become exposed to exploits and hacks. Modern Warfare 2 is no exception to this security exploit and we understand that some of you have experienced problems with stats and other issues associated with this.

Games rely on the security of the encryption on the platforms they're played on, therefore; updates to the game through patches will not resolve this problem, unless the security exploit itself is resolved on the platform. Regretfully, Call of Duty games are receiving the bulk of the hacker's attention, due to its high player counts and popularity. However, the number of legitimate players severely outweighs the bad apples.

If you are concerned about playing with players who are hacking, I encourage you to play exclusively with friends by utilizing the party or private match options in Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty 4 to avoid such players as much as possible until this issue is resolved by Sony.

At this time, we do not have the ability to restore or adjust individual stats.

Let me assure you, while we are very reliant on Sony updating their firmware and security to address the core problem of this issue. We are looking at EVERY option available to us to help any user affected.

This only applies to legacy games such as Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. In the future we plan to adjust our approach to not rely solely on platform security and reduce the ability for this to happen in our games, as has already been displayed by the work Treyarch has done on Call of Duty: Black Ops to prevent similar measures."

CoD MW 1 and 2 are both games in which the masses play against the world so playing with friends is a step down for about 95% of the population. I haven't seen this myself so it's probably something that doesn't happen as often and people shouldn't fear for this and if you do then follow IW advice and play private matches or play a different game.

Homefront DLC is 360 exclusive for a short time.

Another exclusive for Xbox 360 owners.

Homefront, developed by THQ is due on March 8 in North America and March 13 in Europe will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360. Of course just like any other game DLC is a must and just as you already know, if you didn't know well now you now, DLC for home front will be exclusive until further notice or as some people call it timed exclusive.

The only problem with the timed exclusive content is that no one knows when this DLC will show up on PS3. On top of that Xbox 360 owners will get an exclusive multiplayer map called suburbs.

"ALL future Homefront downloadable content will come FIRST to Xbox 360 and our Xbox Live community. When Homefront hits shelves in March, Xbox gamers will have an exclusive multiplayer map called Suburbs. Look for more details on Inside Xbox next week." said Microsoft's Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, at publisher THQ's Gamers' Day event in New York.

@zh1nt0 can you tell us, if spectate first person view for bf3 is at least being discussed? Thankyou
zh1nt0 @Killb0X_0ne We're discussing a lot of things for #BF3. It's a new game :)

Jeżeli Battlefield 3 miałby wyjść do końca roku, marzec to dobry moment na pokazanie jakiejś wczesnej wersji gry i początek budowania przedpremierowego hype'u.

No Guest Character for Mortal Kombat on Xbox 360

Finally something for PS3 owners but 360 people seem to bitch a lot about this.

OK I understand when gamers get mad when a company decides to only release exclusive content for a certain console. Normally this happens to PS3 owners who purchase a software title only to find out that Xbox 360 owners are getting additional content which is exclusive to them or will release on PS3 weeks, months maybe years after. Case and Point Grand Theft Auto 4. Grand Theft Auto became a hit on the PS2 and sold more copies than the Xbox version and when GTA4 was released, people on Xbox360 were promised exclusive content with no mention of a PS3 version. Only a year after the release of the 360 version did PS3 owners experience the content but at a premium compared to the price of the 360 version

This happens all the time with Fallout, The Orange Box, etc.

With the announcement of Kratos for the new Mortal Kombat, 360 fans have been waiting to hear what character will make the cut into the game. Many want Marcus from Gears of War to make an appearance but to be honest even if he did make the cut I do not see him as a MK character. Anyway Marcus didn't make the cut and so far up to date WB Studios does not plan on including a character exclusive to the 360.

This has gotten gamers mad and trust me I understand that it pisses me off when the 360 gets all the exclusive content. So why not let us have this one?

MySpace lays off half it's employees

What?????? You mean to tell me MySpace is still in existance?

I'm not trying to be funny really I thought MySpace was faced out of existence back in 2004. Anyway today MySpace is laying off half of it's work force during this hard economic times.

"Today's tough but necessary changes were taken in order to provide the company with a clear path for sustained growth and profitability," Jones wrote, according to reports. "These changes were purely driven by issues related to our legacy business, and in no way reflect the performance of the new product. The new organizational structure will enable us to move more nimbly, develop products more quickly, and attain more flexibility on the financial side. We are also committed to rebuilding the company with an entrepreneurial culture and an emphasis on technical innovation."

MySpace has a total of 22 million users which is nothing compared to Facebook's 500 Million users. How does this qualify as gaming news. It doesn't. It's just funny to see MySpace is still trying to compete in this market but I will say that 22 Million users is a lot of users but question is how many of those 22 million users actually use MySpace?

World of Warcraft sells 4.7 million in first month.

about 1/4 the subscribers purchased the new expansion.

World of Warcraft has a total fanbase of 12 Million customers worldwide up from 11 million since October 2008. Since the release of Cataclysm last month, Activision Blizzard sold 4.7 million copies of the game including the limited edition.

When first released the game sold 3.3 million copies during the first 24 hours and it took them another 29 days to sell another 1.4 million copies which isn't bad seeing as there are only 12 million subscribers that is about 1/4 of their fanbase.

Is World of Warcraft loosing momentum or is everyone waiting for a price drop? I think it's time Activision Blizzard release all World of Warcraft games in a package rather than still sell them individually which can run a user up to $100 or more and it's pretty pathetic that their user base only grew by 1 Million since October 2008.

PSP Phone Pics.

Sony hasn't announced anything but a Chinese website claims this is the real deal.

Just a trick or the real deal. Sony hasn't announce anything on the PSP2 let alone the PSP Phone so it's hard to tell whether this is a legit product or just a cheap fake as China is know for that. The website does claim that you are capable of uploading your PSN games onto it and it runs Android 2.2.

There was also a claimed PSP Phone from china a few months back that was pretty awesome and a bargain for $60 but of course it was a fake, but it's now what it was but what it could do. Apparently you could load up your SNES Roms because it has a SNES emulator and ran Android. I'm still looking for that phone but I'm sure I'll find it in the coming months and when I do I will post a review of it. Until then here are a few pictures of the real PSP Phone.

Vote for the domain name of the upcoming website.

Hey Everyone,

If you notice on your right there is a Poll of various names of what the new website should be called. I wanted to call it independentgamer.com but some idiot has the domain name only as a search engine and a crappy one may I add and is selling the domain name for $1000.

So instead of sticking to that name I have chosen 4 different .com names and leave it up to you, the reader on what the name of the website should be called. If you have a suggestion please leave a comment and I may add it to a poll and see which one sound better and is more appealing.

I should start working on the website by March, 2011 once the name has been chosen. Anyway please vote or give some suggestions into naming the new website and have a nice weekend.

Kalypso’s "Dungeons" Celebrates Going Gold with Theme Song Release

Ready for you to download.

Ridgewood, NJ, January 7, 2011 - Kalypso Media is pleased to announce that their humorous strategy game, Dungeons, has gone gold today! To celebrate this epic moment, Kalypso has released the game’s theme song as a downloadable mp3 for fans to enjoy as they await the game’s arrival in retail stores. Dungeons, which is set for release on February 8 on Windows PC, lets players show off their dark sides, as, in the role of a Dungeon Lord,  they do their best to entice foolish heroes into custom-crafted dungeons. Once an adventurer enters the player’s creation, the fun really begins as players will attempt to capture those heroes and steal their precious soul energy and use it to build even more elaborate and sinister dungeons while fighting against intruding bosses. For more information about Dungeons, please visit www.dungeons-game.com.

Dungeons follows the misadventures of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time luring heroes into his labyrinthine creations with the promise of treasure and a good fight -- only to be trapped by his ingenious devices.

In Dungeons, our protagonist falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty and thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend and finds himself at the bottom of the underworld hierarchy and the top of the dungeon pile. In his world, that is about as bad as it can get. Our lord must have his revenge, and make his way back down the dungeon levels to his rightful place -- but first he must deal with his new bosses, the three despicable Dungeon Lords who stand in his way.

At his disposal are his dim-witted goblin minions who dig tunnels and build rooms to lay out his lair and trap ever stronger and braver heroes who dare to enter, not forgetting to plot his revenge against his ex-girlfriend and his new bosses who think it’s great fun to bombard him with useless tasks. It goes without saying that a malicious and sneaky creature such as our Dungeon Lord has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Revenge will be sweet indeed.

Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, Nevada – January 6, 2011 – Razer, the world’s leading brand of high-end precision gaming products announced today the development of an innovative concept design, based on the Intel® Atom™ processor, bringing traditional PC desktop gaming to a portable form factor.

The new Intel® Atom™ powered concept model, codenamed “Razer Switchblade”, brings an evocative level of design to gaming by replacing the traditional mouse and keyboard interface with an ultra-sensitive multi-touch screen, dynamic tactile keyboard, and an intelligent user interface that adjusts the configuration and key layout on-the-fly based on game content and user requirements.

The Razer Switchblade concept was created from the ground up by Razer designers and engineers, in collaboration with Intel; focusing on enhancing the entire user experience of playing the extensive PC game library on a handheld device.

“The main problem with mobile PC gaming so far is that no one has been able to port the full mouse and keyboard experience onto a small size portable solution,” said Min-Liang Tan, CEO and Creative Director, Razer. “By combining adaptive on-the-fly controls and display, we managed to maintain the full tactile keyboard in a miniature computer while saving valuable screen estate.”

“PC Gaming continues to attract innovation with rich 3-D graphics, high definition video, and life-like animation,” said Brad Graff, director of gaming platforms for Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group. “The Intel® Atom™ processor, combined with Razer’s expertise in bringing gaming solutions to market, will help make it possible for consumers to have a powerful gaming experience in mobile devices.”

“With our established focus on human interface devices, moving the mouse and keyboard experience to the next level was a natural step.” continues Min-Liang Tan. “Razer isn’t just about bringing innovation to the PC, but creating products that will change the future of gaming. The Razer Switchblade is one such product.”
